Residue management tillage has become one of the necessities of higher yields. Heavy residue, particularly corn residue can negatively impact next year’s crop in many ways. Heavy residue remaining in the spring will insulate the soils keeping them cold and wet further into planting time and delay planting. Today’s high yielding varieties are producing residue in volumes beyond the ability of planter attachments to effectively move it sufficiently that it won’t endanger the crop emergence in the planted row by being blown back over the row. The growing popularity of corn on corn farming demands this material be sized and incorporated in to the microbial zone of the soil. The 1436 series Sunflower disc has been designed specifically for this task. The heavy frame, twenty degree front disc gang angle and full concavity blades form an aggressive alliance to slice through the thickest mat of BT corn residue to mix residue and soil into the microbial zone creating the best environment for residue breakdown. With operating widths from 21 to 35 feet, the 1436 can match almost any size farming operation.

Balanced Performance

The 1436 Series Tandem Disc Harrow is heavier and more aggressive than its predecessor. This new series is designed to deliver the performance demands of today’s farming. The new frame design of the 1436 is crafted with more structural strength and thicker walled tubing. It is accurately balanced to accommodate the heavy reeled finishing attachments popular today. The larger tires, wheels, hubs and spindles of the 1436 enhance the tool’s ability to move from field to road with ease. The improved carriage of the 1436 provides superb flotation in the field and added stability in transport. These new disc harrows are available in “True Cutting Widths” from 20’ 5” to 35’ 4”.
